This explains how the departure boards and audio announcements work at Hartford Line stations, so you know where to look and when. Always confirm your train with the Trip Planner, and listen for platform announcements close to departure. For New Haven Union and State Street, see Station Boards and Announcements: New Haven Union and State Street (Both Lines).
Berlin, Meriden, Wallingford, Windsor, and Windsor Locks: these Hartford Line stations have electronic boards and audio announcements that show real-time arrival estimates, calculated from the schedule and the train's live location.
- For Amtrak trains at these stations, the boards show scheduled times only. They do not reflect track changes, bus substitutions, or cancellations for Amtrak trains, though you may still hear a platform announcement about those. Always listen for announcements.
- If a train stops between stations, its real-time estimate may not update until it starts moving again.
Boarding a Hartford Line train: you can board 5 to 10 minutes before departure, once the conductor is present. Crews use the time before that for brake tests and safety checks.
