Using Shore Line East Tickets on Amtrak Trains

Some Amtrak trains appear on the Shore Line East schedule between New Haven and New London. They are marked with a blue column, an asterisk next to the train number, and the AMTK label. These are Amtrak trains, and only some Shore Line East tickets work on them.

What is accepted:

  • Shore Line East Ten-Trip and Monthly tickets are accepted, but only after you make an advance seat reservation through Amtrak's RideReserve program.
  • One-way tickets are not accepted on these trains. If you only have a one-way, take a regular Shore Line East train instead.

How to use RideReserve:

  1. Go to amtrak.com/ride-reserve or open the Amtrak app.
  2. Enter your CTrail ticket number and contact information.
  3. Select your Amtrak train from the Shore Line East schedule.
  4. Amtrak emails you a confirmation with your Amtrak ticket.

Good to know:

  • Reservations can be made up to 14 days before travel, based on your ticket's expiration date, and can be canceled with no penalty up to departure.
  • These Amtrak trains usually stop only at New Haven, Old Saybrook, and New London, and not all trains serve all three. Check the schedule for your train.
  • Cross-honoring is not available on sold-out Amtrak trains.
  • Damaged paper tickets may not be accepted.
  • If you need ADA accommodations, reserve a seat and arrive early to confirm space.
