Discounted Fares and Ticket Validity on Shore Line East

Shore Line East Reduced Fare and Free Ride Policies

This information applies to Shore Line East (SLE).


Children

  • Up to four children age 11 and under ride free with a paying adult.

  • Any additional children are charged the adult fare.

  • Children age 5 and under always ride free.

  • Children must always be accompanied by an adult.


Seniors (65+) and People with Disabilities

  • A discounted One-Way Ticket is available for seniors (age 65 and older) and passengers with disabilities.

    • This ticket provides 50% off the standard one-way fare with proper ID.

  • A discounted 10-Trip Ticket is also available for seniors and passengers with disabilities.

    • This ticket provides approximately a 40% discount off a standard 10-Trip Ticket.

Proper identification must be presented upon request and includes:

  • A state-issued driver’s license or photo ID showing age (65+)

  • A Medicare card

  • A CT Senior/Disabled Reduced Fare Transit ID

  • An MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard or Disability ID

  • A birth certificate (with an additional photo ID)

Note: Shore Line East does not offer a military discount.


Personal Care Attendants (PCAs)

  • Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) ride free with proper ID when accompanying a passenger with a disability.
